Job Summary

The Manager of Development Operations will be a key member of the Faculty of Medicine's Development & Alumni Engagement senior leadership team, responsible for developing and implementing best practices to ensure the team's success in meeting development and alumni engagement goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage ongoing operations of development programs and resource development activities, with a total program level of $5+ million.
  • Coordinate and integrate operational efforts in all areas that affect fundraising, and personally raise major gifts in support of established funding priorities.
  • Manage the strategy for the prospect pipeline, ensuring donor records are up to date, and be an expert user of the Blackbaud relationship management system.
  • Supervise Development Officers, Development Coordinators, and support staff, responsible for hiring, training, and terminating staff, conducting annual staff evaluations, and ensuring benchmarks and performance goals are achieved.
  • Plan and approve professional development for unit staff, review annual benchmarks and performance goals across the unit, and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, advancement, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own, and a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment at all times, and to formulate strategic plans, communicate effectively, and negotiate with major donors, corporate executives, and senior university administration.
