Who we are...

The Department of Finance is responsible for ensuring value for money in the delivery of programs and services for Yukoners. As the territory's statistical body, we develop the territorial budget, corresponding supplementary budgets, and Public Accounts for the territory. We also negotiate, coordinate, and represent Yukon on inter-governmental financial matters with other jurisdictions.

The Financial Operations unit manages and provides guidance and support for the financial operations of accounts payable and accounts receivable for the entire Government of Yukon. We ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies, procedures, and directives, manage the centralized payment process, maintain the vendor and customer master files, reconcile and audit financial information and accounting transactions, and recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and procedures.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, the Supervisor, Financial Operations is accountable for the effective delivery of Government of Yukon's accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the unit, including staffing, training, providing direction, and supporting team development. Other duties include responding to inquiries and requests from internal and external clients, working with the Office of the Auditor General, and collaborating with other areas on tasks and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the financial operations of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies, procedures, and directives
  • Manage the centralized payment process and maintain vendor and customer master files
  • Reconcile and audit financial information and accounting transactions
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and procedures
  • Provide direction and support to team members
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from internal and external clients
