Job Summary

This Casual Truck Driver position operates a two-axle transportation vehicle, transporting various supplies and materials within the facility and externally. The role involves loading items, transporting to specific units, delivering special items, and performing routine vehicle inspections and maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport supplies and materials within the facility and externally.
  • Deliver special items, handle perishable or valuable goods, and perform duties such as picking up items from stores.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks, including gassing, cleaning, checking belts, lights, tires, and oil.
  • Transport food carts from the kitchen to the extended care facility at Vancouver General Hospital and Langley Memorial Hospital sites.
  • Empty linen chutes, load soiled laundry, return waste to compactors, and transport pharmacy products at Langley Memorial Hospital site.

Requirements

  • Grade 10 or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Class 5 vehicle license.
  • Experience driving a 5-tonne truck or courier van is an asset.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and maintain a commitment to cultural safety and reconciliation.

Work Environment

This is a Casual position with no guaranteed hours, and shifts may be called out with short notice or pre-booked.
