Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description:

The Health and Safety Advisor will be responsible for leading our health and safety plan, procedures, and policies for our plant and construction sites in BC.

This role requires a professional Diploma in Health & Safety and 2-4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Advisor, with expertise in manufacturing and/or construction industries.

The ideal candidate will have great communication and social skills, be able to create a positive health and safety culture on-site, and prioritize employee health and safety above all else.

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, advise, and support health and safety initiatives (policies, programs, procedures).
  • Perform weekly facility inspections in conjunction with Operations teams to ensure regulatory compliance and identify potential hazards.
  • Evaluate and prepare written reports on workplace inspections.
  • Evaluate work practices to reduce or eliminate hazards.
  • Develop risk assessments on machines and provide recommendations to Operations.
  • Lead incident investigations and provide support for other incidents.
  • Follow up on open action items, legislative requirements, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with development of safe operating procedures and best practices.
  • Manage compensation claims and oversee return-to-work process.
  • L lost-time prevention: Ensure necessary processes are completed to eliminate lost time.
  • Facilitate employee onboarding and monitor training compliance.
  • Create and assist with implementation of health and safety tracking processes.
  • Support and monitor HSIP objectives with Operations to meet targeted deadlines.
  • Facilitate hazard identification and analysis of hazardous work activities and corrective action planning and implementation.
  • Lead and support Joint Health & Safety Committees by monitoring committee activities, status of committee issues, and responding to information and learning needs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Professional Diploma in Health & Safety.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Advisor.
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or construction industries.
  • Ability to travel around the GVA to our construction fields.
  • Great communication and social skills.
  • Prioritize employee health and safety above all else.
