About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Zoological Technologist to join our team at the Vancouver Aquarium Ltd. This is a permanent position that requires a strong passion for animal care and conservation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting biological tests and laboratory analyses to ensure the health and well-being of aquatic animals.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to inform conservation efforts and improve animal care practices.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and compliance activities to protect wildlife and natural resources.
  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Develop and implement conservation programs and displays to educate the public about the importance of marine conservation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Supervise and train animal care staff to ensure high standards of animal care and welfare.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as biology, zoology, or animal science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in animal care and conservation, preferably in an aquarium or zoo setting.
  • Strong knowledge of animal behavior, physiology, and welfare.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
