Job Summary

Vancouver Aquarium Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Zoological Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our aquatic animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting biological tests and laboratory analyses to ensure the health and well-being of our animals.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to inform animal care decisions.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and compliance activities to protect wildlife and natural resources.
  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery.
  • Ensure procedures are conducted in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Develop storyline and theme of displays and exhibitions to educate and engage visitors.
  • Clean and disinfect animal enclosures to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Assist in the selection, evaluation, and professional development of personnel.
  • Assist in the development of standards, health, and safety measures.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed in the use of computerized document management systems.
  • Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers.
Requirements
  • Animal care and field studies work experience.
  • Familiarity with freshwater and marine ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of plant breeding principles.
  • Basic research experience.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
