Your Challenge

Our London office is seeking an Environmental Technologist to join our fast-paced and growth-oriented environment. This opportunity is ideal for self-motivated, hardworking individuals who are passionate about hazardous materials and environmental assessment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct building investigations for Asbestos, Designated Substances, Mould, and other Hazardous Materials;
  • Collect air and bulk samples during the abatement of designated substances and hazardous materials;
  • Provide engineering/technical reporting for projects involving the abatement of the aforementioned materials;
  • On-site investigations of air quality, including indoor and outdoor air quality sampling and monitoring (instrumentation setup, calibration, data acquisition, and analysis), and workplace exposure assessments;
  • Analyze phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for airborne fibers using NIOSH 7400 method;
  • Interpret laboratory analytical results;
  • Prepare written technical reports pertaining to surveys, site investigations, and abatement monitoring;
  • Complete Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and Phase II ESAs);
  • Environmental Site Remediation (Underground Storage Tank Removals, Soil and/or Groundwater Remediation Oversight);
  • Groundwater and surface water sampling;
  • Liaise and communicate with clients and troubleshoot issues independently at the client site;
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities We Seek

  • College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental/Geological/Civil Technician or Technology Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Natural Sciences;
  • Experience in Environmental Consulting, Designated/Hazardous Materials Surveys, Phase I, II, III Environmental Site Assessments is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Designated Substance Regulations, including but not limited to Ontario Regulations 278/05, 490/09, 833, is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Environmental Site Assessment Regulations, including but not limited to the Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Regulation 153/04, is an asset;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced client services environment with developed client service skills is an asset;
  • Strong communication and writing skills, including the ability to write technical reports;
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups as well as independently;
  • Highly motivated and able to work well within a team environment;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Must be available to work during weekends and nights, as required.
