Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team at Elk Island Public Schools. As a key member of our Facilities Services department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems in our schools and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, including troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures.
  • Carry out assigned tasks and projects, including emergency repairs and special projects.
  • Work with other trades and contractors to design and implement maintenance work and projects.
  • Prepare and complete administrative documentation, including timekeeping and work order systems.
  • Act as a stand-by and after-hour call-out tradesman, and perform duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Valid Alberta Journeyman's Electrician Certificate.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in the trade, preferably in maintenance in an institutional or commercial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical trade practices, standards, and building codes.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision, and to prioritize and plan multiple work tasks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety codes and Workers' Compensation Regulations.
