Job Overview:

First Student is a leading school transportation solutions provider in North America, serving 1,100 school districts with a team of highly trained drivers and the industry's strongest safety record. We're currently seeking a skilled Shop Foreman - Lead Diesel Mechanic to join our team.

About the Role:

As a Shop Foreman - Lead Diesel Mechanic, you'll be responsible for scheduling and performing school bus fleet maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems, and maintaining service records. You'll also supervise technicians in the shop, generate work orders, and track progress through completion. Additionally, you'll maintain advanced knowledge of all vehicle components to effectively diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs, and monitor shop operational performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and perform school bus fleet maintenance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Maintain service records
  • Supervise technicians in the shop
  • Generate work orders and track progress through completion
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of all vehicle components
  • Monitor shop operational performance and efficiency

Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed
  • At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
  • Previous experience in a lead technician, supervisor, or other management role is preferred
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program
