Job Title: Shop Foreman - Lead Diesel Mechanic

About the Role:
As a Shop Foreman - Lead Diesel Mechanic at First Student, you will be responsible for scheduling and performing school bus fleet maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems, and maintaining service records. You will also supervise technicians in the shop, generate work orders, and track progress through completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a team of technicians in the shop.
  • Generate and manage work orders, ensuring timely completion and quality of work.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of vehicle components to effectively diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor shop operational performance and efficiency, identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
  • At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
  • Previous experience in a lead technician or supervisor role is preferred.
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set.
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program, with training, testing, and bonuses provided.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
