Job Summary

This role involves coordinating project activities within the Production Technical Department, supporting production processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and good engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with technical professionals and customers to develop project scope and user requirements specifications.
  • Support project design basis, project justification documentation, and Authorization for Expenditure.
  • Prepare cost estimates, feasibility studies, and execution schedules for assigned projects.
  • Deliver project scope within budget and schedule.
  • Develop detailed drawings and specifications for assigned projects using AutoCAD and Apotex Standards.
  • Participate in supplier and contractor selection, negotiation, management, and evaluation.
  • Liaise with customers to research, develop, and analyze problems with existing facilities/equipment.
  • Implement engineering solutions to ensure readiness to manufacture new products.
  • Support the Production, Maintenance, and Complaints/Investigations groups with problem-solving, troubleshooting, and vendor liaison.
  • Develop SOPs, PM tasks, spare parts, and calibration requirements to support equipment throughout its lifecycle.
  • Coordinate outside consultants and contractors to ensure Apotex technical and regulatory compliance standards, safety, cost, and schedule parameters are maintained.
  • Ensure necessary permits and certifications are obtained and inspections and pre-start safety reviews are scheduled.
  • Support the technical review of engineering specifications and test plans to ensure user requirements and business needs are met.
  • Use process systems expertise to ensure commissioning, qualification, and training plans are in place for efficient system start-up.
  • Support/lead the development and execution of F.A.T., S.A.T., commissioning, and validation requirements for assigned work.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in an Engineering/Technologist program or equivalent field experience with a minimum of two work terms in plant technical support and/or design and construction coordination.
  • Experience in project management, Good Manufacturing Practices, and quality management systems is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in design using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Excel, and Visio is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and effective team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, food, or chemical processing industry, ideally with exposure to compounding, filling/packaging, and cleaning/sterilization processes for liquid dose products is preferred.
