Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our Product Development team. The successful candidate will design, implement, and maintain firmware for system-level medical products, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to commercialization.

Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Investigate and define software engineering requirements for new algorithms or features, and deliver high-quality, innovative designs that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Planning and Process Development: Manage software and systems risk and hazard analysis activities, and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver business objectives and drive completion of firmware development lifecycle processes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Software, Systems, Electrical, Biomedical or Mechatronics)
  • 10+ years of experience in firmware engineering roles, with a proven track record of taking devices from concept to registration and commercialization
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including report writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in medical device industry, with hands-on firmware development experience
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Java etc
  • Cross-platform skills (e.g. Two or more of Windows, Linux, MacOS, ...)
