Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologist I to join our team at the Diagnostic Scientific Centre. As a key member of our laboratory department, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, and analysis of diagnostic samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment, and research.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of samples to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of testing and analysis results.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
  • Able to work with exposure to chemicals and gloves.
  • Basic LIS and Microsoft computer skills.
  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required (i.e. more than 75% of time on the job).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Anatomic Pathology experience in a clinical setting within the past 10 years.
  • Experience within the last 2 years preferred.
  • Experience grossing up to level IV.
  • Experience with performing and assessing special stains.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and gloves. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
