Saplings Outdoor Program is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Forest School Educator to join our team. As a Forest School Educator, you will be responsible for designing and implementing dynamic outdoor programs for preschool and school-aged children in various locations around Vancouver, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development: Collaborate with our management team to create and implement engaging forest programs that promote learning and exploration.
- Safety and Risk Management: Ensure the safety of all children during outdoor activities, including forest play, hiking, and climbing trees, while also promoting risk-taking and physical development.
- Program Preparation: Prepare and maintain learning areas and materials, as well as assume responsibility for program tools and equipment.
- Seasonal Activities: Plan and prepare seasonal activities and projects using natural materials, locally foraged or sourced.
- Mentorship and Communication: Implement mentorship strategies that are individually focused and age-appropriate, with an emphasis on compassion and respect, and communicate effectively with parents.
- Team Collaboration: Attend monthly staff meetings and participate in parent meetings as needed.
- Qualifications: Current First Aid Certificate and Current Criminal Record Check.
- Experience: Work experience with school-aged children, preferably in outdoor education focusing on play-based, student-led learning.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with children and parents.
Saplings Outdoor Program is a nature-based program located in West Vancouver for children ages 2.5-9 years old. Our program aims to provide children with an opportunity to connect with the environment in a safe and enjoyable way, promoting a love for nature and the outdoors.
