Production Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Regular Part-Time Production Specialist to join our dynamic Production team at Canadian Blood Services.
About the RoleIn this role, you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the production of blood components that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians. The Production team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by processing whole blood collections to the final products.
Key Responsibilities- Draw on your knowledge and experience in laboratory functions to receive, assess, and produce whole blood, apheresis platelets, and plasma into requested blood components.
- Utilize your attention to detail to ensure appropriate documentation on records related to Production in compliance with Canadian Blood Services operational procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain the working area in an orderly and safe manner using your excellent organizational skills.
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure safety and quality of blood products, demonstrating your proactive and excellence-driven approach.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Completion of secondary education and minimum 2 years laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A post-secondary background in science is preferred.
- Technical skills including MS Office, and the ability to learn systems and programs as required.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to follow instructions precisely, prepare and maintain accurate records, and carry out repetitive tasks.
- Experience in food processing, pharmaceutical, or biologics manufacturing is a strong asset.

This role requires flexibility, as shifts/hours may vary based on operational needs. You must be able to accommodate assigned shifts, which may include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. Physical requirements include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
