We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at the Government of the Northwest Territories. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your expertise in ultrasound imaging to provide high-quality patient care.
About the RoleThis permanent full-time position will see you working as a vital member of our Diagnostic Imaging Services team, reporting to the Technical Supervisor. You will be responsible for independently producing and interpreting sonographic images required by Radiologists for accurate diagnoses. Your duties will include performing sonographic examinations on various internal structures, providing hands-on support during invasive procedures, and ensuring all necessary preparations are made.
You will also have the opportunity to work closely with our Radiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform sonographic examinations on internal structures including neck, abdomen, pelvis, heart, deep leg veins, breasts, and pregnant abdomen;
- Provide hands-on support during invasive procedures, including biopsies and aspirations;
- Ensure all necessary preparations are made for procedures, including explaining procedures to patients, documenting images, and post-procedure care;
- Locate specific areas for biopsy procedures using real-time ultrasound performed by the Sonographer;
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Certified Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program diploma or equivalent;
- Excellent knowledge of ultrasound equipment and technology;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
