Volunteer Leadership Coordinator

As a key member of our organizing committees, you will work alongside 10 to 15 volunteers to plan and execute our fundraising events. Your role will involve leading a team of committee members, each with their own portfolio, to manage the tangible aspects of event planning, including logistics, entertainment, ceremonies, registration, volunteers, and finance. You will be responsible for preparing operational plans for event day, focusing on logistics and participant experience.

You will work closely with the Relay Director, Community Engagement, to create a successful event. Together, you will share key event and organizational information with the CCS Staff Partner and committee members. At CCS, we are committed to improving the cancer experience by helping people with cancer live their lives more fully. The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life brings together communities united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer.

You will have the leadership skills to motivate a group of volunteers to work together and move objectives forward. You will understand your community and how to connect people and involve them in Relay. Under your leadership, the committee will create a night full of memories and hope. You will be able to track the details, motivate committee volunteers, and always have the experience of the participants at the top of your mind.

We will provide you with online resources and training, as well as staff support to help you lead the event experience side of the Relay committee and be an effective people leader. You will have the opportunity to learn and mentor as you engage with CCS staff and volunteers. You will communicate regularly and consistently with volunteers you are leading and other members of the team, including the CCS Staff Partner who is supporting the event.
