About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Southlake Regional Health Centre. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient and family-focused care within the RN scope of practice, based on the three-factor framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Function in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
  • Ensure that practice is consistent with entry to practice competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Practice collaboratively with members of the healthcare team to provide elements of care for patients/clients with complex health issues.
  • Provide consultation and/or clinical support to peers as needed.
  • Contribute to the assessment and documentation of each patient's health status on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care and evaluates its ongoing effectiveness.
  • Assist in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students to the clinical units.
  • Act as a role model and champion to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
  • Take a leadership role in the coordination of patient care in assigned area.
  • Assume charge nurse role when assigned.
  • Assist in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students.
  • Effectively utilize human and material resources.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
  • Provide consultation and/or clinical support to peers as needed.
Requirements
  • Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' recent critical care nursing experience or Critical Care Certificate.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated problem assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated individual leadership skills.
