Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in the resuscitation and stabilization of major trauma patients and critically ill patients
  • Assess and manage emergency medicine presentations from injury to unexpected and undifferentiated medical and surgical illness in all ages, to mental health emergencies
Expected Hours
  • Full-time is defined at 40 hours per week, with rotational shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Current shifts are 8 hours or 10 hours in length, with 10 hours of double coverage per day
  • Occasional rotations through other Northern Zone Emergency Departments may be required to meet critical operational requirements
Qualifications
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Current Certification in Emergency Medicine
