Drywall Installation Job Description

CANADA INC. is seeking a skilled Drywall Installation Specialist to join our team. As a Drywall Installation Specialist, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, applying successive coats of compound, and sanding seams and joints. You will also be required to clean and prepare surfaces, cut and install metal corner beads, and fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids.

Work Environment

The work environment will be dusty and noisy, and you will be required to work at heights. You will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience
  • Ability to work at heights and in a dusty environment
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Responsibilities
  • Install drywall sheets
  • Apply successive coats of compound
  • Sand seams and joints
  • Clean and prepare surfaces
  • Cut and install metal corner beads
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound
  • Finish corners and angles
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
