Production Planner

Reporting to the Manager – Production Planning and Internal Logistics, the Production Planner is responsible for scheduling, coordinating production, planning and prioritization of operations to ensure maximum efficiency to satisfying customer requirements. This position is a key role in ensuring the smooth and cost-efficient flow throughout the supply chain.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling customer demand with capacity and part supply in mind.
  • Create daily/weekly/monthly production schedules to meet customer demand.
  • Coordinate production of external/internal materials needs.
  • Manage inventory levels and ordering of parts needed preventing unplanned production downtime.
  • Develop process improvements to achieve company quality, inventory, and on-time KPI's.
  • Problem Solving and LPS activities for continuous improvement.
  • Update and communicate with sales team regularly.
  • Closely communicate with Internal/External Logistics, Production Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality and Shipping to execute plans as scheduled.
  • Maintain part data integrity and set-up within the ERP system.
  • Take corrective actions to expedite customer requirements as required.
  • Monitoring production capacity to report accurate lead-times.
  • Daily duties will include tracking work orders, monitoring priorities and delivery dates, reviewing production and shipment schedules, updating labour and machine build times and completing status reports for production progress and work in process.
  • Enter and maintain accurate forecasting to drive requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • APICS certification considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient in MS applications, MRP software, Oracle and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, process improvement and inventory management.

Physical Effort:

Normal or frequent moderate physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. Involves standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs.

Work Environment:

Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of every day expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events
