Job Description

Calian Group Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Instructor to provide professional services to assist in designing, developing, delivering, evaluating, and maintaining training activities for the Canadian Forces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training plans, schedules, and progress reports summarizing work completed, planned work, and any problems or impediments to successful task completion.
  • Identify training and performance requirements, and determine sources of learning materials.
  • Provide recommendations on the procurement of instructional materials, including diagrams, reports, and documents related to subject matter content.
  • Design and develop style guides, instructional learning materials, and student evaluations to ensure compliance with specified standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct beta testing and formative evaluations of learning instructional material to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Prepare instructors for the use and implementation of learning instructional materials into training programs.
  • Record development costs of learning instructional materials.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency and currency with knowledge, skills, and competencies specified in the contract to provide detailed explanations to students on the intended use, function, and underlying technology for specific courses.
  • Identify background content, including source material and reference items, to contribute to the development of new and enhanced course content.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance, including identifying possible exercise scenarios, recommending knowledge tests, and defining, configuring, and testing network infrastructure required to conduct exercises.
  • Develop or revise lesson plans, instructional material, and training aids to ensure effective delivery of training programs.
  • Deliver training in accordance with the course Lesson Plan, using appropriate Adult Education techniques.
  • Set up the classroom prior to the scheduled start time and provide administrative briefings to participants.
  • Evaluate tests and/or assignments, and provide feedback and recommendations to the Project Authority as part of the lessons learned process.
Expected Equipment, Skills, and Knowledge

The Electronics Instructor is expected to have knowledge of the following:

  • Hardware:
  • LABVOLT test equipment (models differ from classroom to classroom).
  • Tecktronix Oscilloscope.
  • Fluke 8010A digital multimeter.
  • Fluke 79 III digital multimeter.
  • Fluke 177 digital multimeter.
  • Signal generator.
  • Sears brand black and white television (Multi stage class).
  • ELMO (overhead projector).
  • Software:
  • Visio.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Excel.
  • Microsoft Word.
Qualifications

The Electronics Instructor will have the following qualifications:

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. A High School graduation diploma or certificate.

OR

  1. A post-secondary certificate or diploma in Instruction or Education (either must be related to adult learning) AND a minimum of 5 years of experience in Instructing in the identified category.

OR

  1. A college diploma (in any field) or university degree (in any field) AND a minimum of 6 years of related employment experience (i.e. not necessarily as an Instructor) AND a minimum of 3 years of experience in Instructing in the identified category.
