Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Stevens E3. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, controlling expenditures, and evaluating the feasibility of meeting client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Data Gathering

  • Review estimate requests, design drawings, and specifications with team members to understand project requirements and gather necessary information.
  • Identify and gather information on labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Obtain price quotes from vendors and suppliers.

Estimate Preparation

  • Complete timely and accurate estimates from various sources of information, including floor plans, sketches, and oral descriptions.
  • Break down projects into components as required by sales and/or the customer.
  • Maintain documentation and records to support projected costs.
  • Evaluate feasibility of meeting client requirements.
  • Obtain quotes/estimates from sub-contractors.

Expenditure Control and Project Management

  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Prepare cost, expenditure statements, and forecasts at specified intervals.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with team members and prepare economic feasibility reports on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of exhibit design and production, pricing standards, and construction trade practices.
  • Ability to extract pertinent data from oral and written information and standard visual sources.
  • Completion of a secondary school and several years of experience as a qualified estimator in the construction trade.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, Excel skills, and related talents.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
