About the Role

VHA Home HealthCare is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a Speech Language Pathologist with VHA, you will have the opportunity to work with diverse client groups across Southern Ontario and the Capital region, providing consultation, assessment, and planned interventions to support individuals with communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose clients in all age groups through the selection and administration of standardized and non-standardized tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized goal-directed treatment programs based on case history, assessment results, current professional practices, and College standards.
  • Monitor client progress and evaluate treatment and management on an ongoing basis.
  • Counsel and educate clients, caregivers, and family members regarding the nature and management of communication deficits.
  • Identify and teach self-management strategies to help clients recognize and avoid unsafe situations.
  • Discuss clinically significant information with physicians or other appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Assist in client discharge planning in conjunction with the client, family members, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive written documentation of client care in accordance with existing legal, professional, and VHA standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in Speech Language Pathology and Community Services appropriate for treatment populations.
  • Adhere to the code of ethics of the profession, maintaining standards of practice for the profession as defined by the Ontario College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience and knowledge of community care requirements and resources available.
  • Expertise in the management of clients with complex communication disorders.
  • Clinical expertise to provide a variety of speech language pathology interventions.
