Job Title: Intermediate Electrical Engineering

Magellan Aerospace is a global leader in the aerospace industry, providing complex assemblies and systems solutions to aircraft and engine manufacturers, and defence and space agencies worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled Intermediate Electrical Engineering professional to join our development team in Winnipeg.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work in a team environment supporting Space Business products, focusing on the development of avionics systems, power subsystems, and control and data handling subsystems. Key responsibilities include interpreting system level requirements, identifying design alternatives, and performing trade-off studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret system level requirements and apply them to electrical system development and component selection.
  • Identify design alternatives and perform trade-off studies to determine the most suitable electrical subsystem architecture.
  • Develop and implement electrical subsystem designs for existing and new product development.
  • Perform or direct analyses, design, fabrication, integration, test, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Conduct sensitivity, reliability, failure mode, and worst-case analyses to predict system performance under operational and environmental conditions.
  • Ensure verification planning and test requirements capture all design requirements.
  • Develop and execute test plans for electronics system verification and acceptance.
  • Plan, develop, execute, and lead test activities for electronic circuits in a cleanroom environment.
  • Represent the Company professionally in the presence of customers and suppliers.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • University degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Extensive experience in electrical system design and implementation.
  • Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Registration.
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance to "NATO Secret" level.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
  • Eligibility for enrollment as an "Engineer in Training" or "Professional Engineer" with the Engineering society.
  • Experience with satellite Power Conditioning and Distribution (PCDU) avionics and/or satellite Control and Data Handling (C&DH) avionics.
  • Familiarity with generating requirements specifications (knowledge of DOORS software highly desirable).
  • Experience with electrical system integration, test definition, and performance verification.
  • Experience with generating data package documents (e.g., specifications, technical notes, design description and justifications, test planning and test requirement specifications, compliance matrices, budgets, and interface definition and control documentation).
  • Experience in VHDL or Verilog design, synthesis, simulation, and verification (preferably Microsemi and Xilinx FPGAs).
  • Experience in test bench design and implementation (VHDL or Verilog and TCL).
