About the Role:

The Mental Health Commission of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP, External Affairs and Development to lead our government relations, marketing, and communications efforts. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for building and executing government relations and stakeholder relations programs, cultivating relationships with policy makers, industry leaders, and other influencers, and promoting MHCC and MHCC-OM priorities at all government levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement MHCC's government affairs strategy, including building relationships with local, provincial, and national leaders, administrators, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead the development and implementation of MHCC and MHCC-OM's government affairs and communications strategy and programs.
  • Responsible for fostering MHCC's relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, including National Indigenous Organizations.
  • Responsible for operational leadership of MHCC's charitable and philanthropic strategy, vision, and activities.
  • Create, implement, oversee, and measure the success of a comprehensive, culturally competent marketing and communications program and strategy.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of a combination of government relations, marketing, communication, brand management, digital, and corporate communication experience, including significant senior management experience.
  • University degree in management/business administration, communications/public relations, health-related field, or another applicable field.
  • Preferred experience working within the health sector.

Physical/Cognitive Demands:
