Game Development Project Manager

This role is a hybrid position in Vancouver, BC, offering a unique blend of project management and game development expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role. Additionally, they should have a solid understanding of game development principles and be able to work closely with designers, engineers, and content creators to deliver high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering leads and facilitate team meetings, including daily standups, planning meetings, and retrospectives.
  • Motivate the engineering team to execute projects on time and at a high quality level, prioritizing tasks and managing dependencies.
  • Manage stakeholders from other parts of the game team and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate milestones, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Proactively manage risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Present project status and information to the team and leadership, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience, with a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Minimum 1 year of technical experience, with a solid understanding of game development principles and practices.
  • Ability to work in-person in the Vancouver office three days a week.
  • No prior experience in the gaming industry is required, but a passion for gaming and a willingness to learn are essential.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in a central team, servicing multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of game engines, such as Unreal or Unity, and/or infrastructure teams, including builds, tools, automation, systems, and rendering.
  • Experience with various project management methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
