Job Title: Project Controls Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Specialist to join our Mining and Infrastructure team in Toronto, ON. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for cost control, planning, and scheduling for engineering and/or construction projects in the mining and infrastructure markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance, training, and auditing support for cost, planning, and scheduling on projects.
  • Review and provide input into technical standards, guidelines, and procedures for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules and cost systems.
  • Interface with designated management and client counterparts for specific costing, planning, and scheduling tasks.
  • Set project controls guidelines and responsibilities within a Project Execution Plan, as well as implement tools and systems to effectively manage, control, and report on earned value management, cash flow, cost, revenue, forecasting, and schedule for projects.
  • Set up schedules (including schedule preparation plan and basis) and proposal schedules plus all associated costing controls and systems.
  • Support business development with proposal efforts and provide input to proposals and client presentations.
  • Audit projects to ensure the quality of cost, planning, and scheduling functions.
  • Develop and implement cost, planning, and scheduling training programs.
  • Conduct personnel performance reviews when delegated.
  • Participate in interviews for potential candidates and make recommendations for employment decisions.
  • Participate in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the-job training for specific processes and practices.

Requirements:

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in EPC/EPCM projects in cost, planning, and scheduling and/or project controls management.
  • College and/or University Degree in a related field.
  • Experienced with "Earned Value" Management and Project Management Software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Applications & Visio.
  • Ability to produce, read, and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports.
  • Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost controls. Supervision of assigned personnel is an asset.
  • Experience in all phases of project lifecycle (proposal, initiation, execution, closeout).
  • Home Office and Site experience.
  • Must understand control requirements for Studies through EPCM Project Controls Management.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take on increasing responsibility.
