We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Satellite System Architect to join our team at Telesat. As a key member of our Lightspeed System Development team, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of our revolutionary Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define Lightspeed system architecture, system requirements, and network element specifications, ensuring alignment with project goals and customer needs.
- Contribute to the design and development of key aspects such as end-to-end communication, resource allocation mechanisms, network entry mechanism, network element management systems, service availability, EPFD compliance and coordination mechanisms, satellite payload power consumption management, resource utilization efficiency, spectrum management, user terminal type integration, and concepts of operation.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers in the System Design team.
- Develop and maintain Lightspeed system architecture documentation, including subsystems definition, interfaces, and data flows, to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the system.
- Collaborate with the System Integration and Test team to plan the integration and testing of all elements of the Lightspeed constellation system.
- Identify and manage technical risks related to the system design and develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the satellite industry, and contribute innovative ideas to design and operation of the Lightspeed constellation system.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in satellite system architecture and design, with a minimum of 15 years in similar roles.
- Strong knowledge of satellite communication protocols, orbital mechanics, and space systems.
- Experience with software defined satellite communication payloads.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies and space industry standards.
