We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the York Region District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing individualized support and accommodations to ensure their academic success.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including those with autism, physical disabilities, and learning disabilities
- Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding
- Support students with behavioral challenges, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies
- Assist with classroom management, including supervising students during transitions and breaks
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure a collaborative approach to student support
- Post-secondary education in a related field, such as special education or child and youth care
- Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- First Aid and CPR certification
