Senior Project Accountant

Newlands Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Accountant to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Accounting: Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including project cost summaries, variance analyses, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure that all costs are captured and allocated correctly.
  • Month-End Closing: Perform month-end closing activities for projects, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of long-term forecasts and financial models to support strategic decision-making and project planning.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during project audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
  • Internal Controls: Ensure strong internal controls are maintained within the project accounting function.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in project accounting within the real estate development or construction industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, JD Edwards) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of project accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
