About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Corporate Taxation Specialist to join our team at OpenText Corporation. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to leverage their expertise and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leverage extensive knowledge of international tax implications related to mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other transactions to provide strategic guidance to the organization.
  2. Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual regional income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 740), including interaction with external auditors, reconciliation of income tax accounts, and compliance with SOX regulations.
  3. Oversee and review the preparation of income tax returns and related compliance for all Canadian legal entities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  4. Manage and oversee international tax compliance and strategies, providing guidance on tax implications of multinational business operations.
  5. Spearhead process improvements initiatives adopting new technologies to eliminate repetitive tasks, increase productivity, and drive quality deliverables.
  6. Collaborate with external tax auditors to manage Canadian tax audits and ensure resolution of audit findings.
  7. Stay up-to-date on regional tax law changes and their impact on the organization, including changes to the Income Tax Act and ASC 740.
  8. Support the development of forecasted income and cash tax payments for inclusion in the quarterly and annual forecasts of the group's consolidated income tax provision and operating cash flow.
  9. Forge strong relationships with the global tax team, other departments, and external tax advisors as necessary.
  10. Contribute to tax analysis for planning initiatives and special projects relevant to the region, as requested.

Requirements:

  • University degree specializing in business, finance, or accounting and Canadian CPA designation.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in global tax accounting, either in public practice or industry.
  • Proven track record working directly on an international tax team, with experience in multinational corporations.
  • Completion or working towards completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 740 and Canadian corporate income tax principles.
  • Experience in technical areas such as ASC 740, FIN 48 reserve analysis, FAPI, Upstream Loans, T106, and T1134 reporting.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects with conflicting timelines.
  • Familiarity with Longview, SAP, and BPC reporting tools will be considered an asset.
