Kitchen Helper Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Donairdude Nanaimo. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, including work surfaces, cupboards, and equipment.
  • Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, and other storage areas.
  • Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and ensure the kitchen is kept clean and tidy.
  • Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist with food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
  • Participate in a government or community program that supports newcomers and refugees.
  • Recruit and support newcomers and refugees who have been displaced by conflict or natural disaster.
  • Assist with foreign credential recognition and provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment.
Support for Indigenous People:
  • Participate in a government or community program that supports Indigenous people.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations.
  • Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
