We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced CORPORATE PARALEGAL POSITION to join our legal department at our executive offices located in Dorval, Québec.
Salary
We offer a competitive salary range of CAD $75,000.00 to CAD $100,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to our lawyers in all facets of corporate law, including preparing legal documents, conducting research, and assisting with litigation, real estate, and employment matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Support: Provide contract support for standard corporate agreements, such as non-disclosure, sales, transportation brokerage, and independent contractor agreements, while ensuring effective communication with members of our operation and sales team.
- Organizing Legal Documentation: Responsible for organizing legal documentation related to transactions, leases, or sales agreements, as well as overseeing the execution (or signature process), communication, and archiving of finalized agreements.
- Corporate Records: Together with external counsel, coordinating, maintaining, and filing corporate records, including articles of formation, merger agreements, dissolution documentation, board of director changes, annual reports, stock certificates, resolutions, etc.
- General Procedural Duties: Perform general procedural duties dealing with corporate matters, such as obtaining tax numbers, communication with Corporations Canada, etc.; liaising with our finance department on all related matters.
- Litigation Reports: Prepare quarterly litigation reports, including drafting overall case summaries and status notes. Yearly coordination with our financial auditors to ensure we obtain the necessary confirmations from our external advisors on the status and risk exposure of our litigation matters, as well as preparing any related internal reports for our finance department.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including managing correspondence, documenting procedures, and maintaining organized records.
Efficiency Optimization:
Participate in ad-hoc initiatives, including organizing and maintaining documentation, helping implement necessary adjustments to legal processes, proactively seeking and implementing opportunities to streamline processes, enhance workflow efficiency, and improve overall operational effectiveness within the legal department.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Diploma of College Studies in Paralegal Technology or Attestation of College Studies in Paralegal Studies.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Corporate Paralegal.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and legal research databases, with ability to conduct independent research.
- Bilingual: English and French, both written and spoken.
- Strong written and oral communication skills as well as excellent reading comprehension.
- Able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents, and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
