Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled Electrical/Building Controls Technician to join our team at the Government of Northwest Territories. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing electrical inspections, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of assets in various communities and remote sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct electrical and electronics inspections and repairs on critical systems in buildings throughout the region, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and legislation.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electro-mechanical building systems, including HVAC, EMCS, and DDC systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faulty equipment, and make necessary repairs to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with other trades, contractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient and effective installation, repairs, and operational functionality.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to coordinate equipment and facility downtime, and arrange access to buildings for work and training purposes.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and other helper positions to ensure knowledge transfer and skill development.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed on assets, and ensure an adequate supply of materials for completion of work.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician.
  • Minimum 5 years of directly related experience in electrical and electronics systems.
  • Class 5 Driver's License.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $40.91 per hour to $48.86 per hour, plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,661.
