About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resource Consultant to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will provide expert advice and guidance to managers, employees, and unions on labour relations, collective agreements, and human resource policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide human resource consultation and advice to assigned departments on operational issues, performance management, discipline, leave management, selection, organizational redesign, and other human resource matters.
  • Interpret and administer various collective agreements, local agreements, legislation, and policies to ensure consistent application and compliance.
  • Investigate labour relations issues and complaints, research appropriate jurisprudence and industry practices, and develop recommendations for contract interpretations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide guidance on grievance and dispute resolution process management, including fact-finding, drafting correspondence, strategizing employer position, and preparing for meetings and hearings.
  • Promote constructive union-management relations through respectful communication and interest-based problem-solving.
  • Identify management education needs and assist with developing and presenting related educational programs.
  • Maintain records and statistics on labour relations activities and provide recommendations to leaders and Human Resource staff.
  • Stay current on human rights, employment, and other related legislation, health care collective agreements, and human resource practices.
  • Participate in industry committees to maintain knowledge of current and future trends and changes in labour relations.
Requirements
  • University Degree in a field related to Human Resource Management.
  • Five (5) years' recent, related experience in human resources in a unionized environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others in a highly sensitive labour climate.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle change effectively and model effective behaviours for others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle.
