Advanced School Bus Mechanic Specialist

We are seeking a skilled 310T Mechanic to join our team at First Student, responsible for maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will provide guidance to apprentice mechanics and contribute to the development of advanced training and technology in the transportation industry.
Compensation and BenefitsThe successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $41/hour, based on experience and qualifications. Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal supervision, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches, and other repairs.
- Remove, overhaul, and reinstall mechanical components with minimal supervision.
- Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
- Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately, maintaining records of all maintenance work completed, including parts and supplies used.
- Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
- Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
- Lead road calls and emergency services as necessary.
- Adhere to First Student standards, policies, and procedures.
- Moves vehicles safely between job and work area.
- A valid 310T Mechanic license is mandatory.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Appropriate mechanic tool set must be possessed.
- Advanced problem-solving ability and computer skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is crucial.
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts is required.
