Lead Backend Software Engineer

Thomson Reuters is seeking a highly skilled Lead Backend Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our backend applications, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and deploy new features.

About the Role:
  • Lead the development of our backend applications, working closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and deploy new features.
  • Collaborate with product managers, scientists, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality software products.
  • Develop and maintain our distributed systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Work closely with our cloud services team to design, deploy, and maintain our applications on Azure cloud services.
  • Lead initiatives to improve processes and achieve better outcomes across the team.
About You:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced software engineer who has a strong background in Rust and SQL/Relational Databases. You should have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, unit testing, quality control practices, and incident management.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 7+ years of software development experience in a Rust-based environment.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing distributed systems using cloud services.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining applications to Azure cloud services.
  • Hands-on experience with Rust and SQL/Relational Databases.
  • Prior experience leading other engineers (can be formal or informal engineering leadership).

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with other languages, technologies, and cloud providers.
  • Familiarity with the legal industry is also helpful but not essential.
