Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Perioperative Team Assistant to join our team. As an integral member of the Perioperative and procedure areas, you will perform direct and indirect patient care functions under the direction of a regulated healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service functions in support of the Perioperative and Procedures Area, including preparing the area for surgery and stocking supplies.
  • Provide direct patient assistance functions, including transport and environmental support and maintenance services.
  • Perform cross-functional duties and other assigned tasks consistent with the job classification.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized program for personal support worker.
  • Current Certificate of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, reach, and climb without physical discomfort.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of procedures for handling contaminated materials.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an active participant with others in assisting with the delivery of care to surgical patients.
