Job Summary:

The Shop Technician is a key member of our team at MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co. Limited, responsible for providing expert support to our rebuild shop. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, combined with hands-on experience working on mobile mining equipment and component diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform root-cause problem solving to identify and repair equipment malfunctions
  • Coach and mentor apprentices, technicians, and peers on technical procedures and applications
  • Apply knowledge of machines and machine systems to troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning components and systems
  • Conduct inspections and reports on mobile equipment
  • Follow written work instructions, repair manuals, and engineering drawings
  • Provide input to supervisors and teams for continuous improvements

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion
  • Red Seal Certificate as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or Truck and Coach
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, combined with hands-on experience working on mobile mining equipment and component diagnostics
  • Experience as a mechanic and repair of mining equipment; familiarity with our fleet of equipment is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers
  • Experience in safe rigging practices and procedures required
  • Computer literacy and working familiarity with Microsoft Office procedures
