About the Position

The Electrical and Mechanical Systems Specialist will be responsible for performing root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting and reporting of facility and data server-level events within internal SLA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center;
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center, escalating to the Data Center Facility Manager as needed;
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures;
  • Troubleshoot and report of facility and data server-level events within internal SLA;
  • Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operation Technicians, Chief Technician and vendor support teams;
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operation Technicians;
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff;
  • Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows;
  • Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience;
  • Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies;
  • Respond to off hour emergency calls related to his data centers and help with the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s).

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment;
  • In-depth understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units;
  • Familiar with BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection/trending;
  • Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and/or work in elevated locations;
  • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to provide after-hours support as needed.
