Communications and Web Development Specialist

Job Summary
The Invasive Species Centre is seeking a Communications and Web Development Specialist to amplify positive awareness of the organization, engage key stakeholders, and facilitate evidence-based information sharing about invasive species.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement new website content, editing existing content to ensure it's up-to-date and representative of current knowledge and program status.
- Maintain and update web content management system for optimal performance.
- Support event planning for virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.
- Coordinate the creation of plain language digital and print products, including articles, videos, social media campaigns, reports, and graphics.
- Validate communications products by researching, consolidating, and analyzing policy, science, and technical information on invasive species.
- Coordinate expert/peer review of communications products.
- Identify new opportunities to improve partner relationships and research key audiences, their information needs, and opportunities for engagement.
- Monitor and evaluate external relations plans and activities using analytics and search engine optimization tools.
Requirements
- University or college graduate with a degree in Web Development, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of WordPress or similar content management systems, digital technologies, and emerging digital trends.
- Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to connect and communicate effectively with stakeholders, demonstrate creativity, self-motivation, and initiative.
