About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Transitional Care Centre in West Bedford, Nova Scotia. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting patients in their transition back to home or community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized tests and evaluations to assess occupational therapy-related concerns.
  • Maintain and/or improve patients' ability to perform key life activities required to maintain independence.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical records, observation, and referral.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to ensure effective treatment plans.
  • Evaluate progress and provide progress reports to nursing staff and physicians.
  • Prepare funding requests and statistical reports as required.
  • Design and produce adaptive equipment, utensils, splints, or other orthotic devices as needed.
  • Provide staff training on ergonomics, seating assessment, skin integrity, equipment, and other related topics.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to patients in need. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and ensuring Nova Scotians have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
