Job Title: Peer Support Worker

About the Role:

The Tl'azt'en Nation is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our team. As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and non-judgmental emotional support to individuals working on their wellness plan.
  • Assist individuals in accessing medically prescribed treatments, such as OAT.
  • Pick up supplies or transport clients to the clinic for medical appointments.
  • Participate in weekly case management reports to ensure informed decision-making around client care.
  • Monitor client progress and provide regular check-ins to assess emotional and physical well-being.
  • Take detailed notes for Health Centre staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals struggling with addiction and recovery.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
  • Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Word and email.
  • Ability to provide a clear vulnerable sector criminal record check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Indigenous applicants who reside in Tl'azt'en Nation.
  • Excellent grasp of the language and culture of the Nation.
