Auditor HSEQ Job Description

At The CSL Group Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Auditor HSEQ to join our team. As an Auditor HSEQ, you will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance of our Safety Management System and promoting a safe and healthy workplace.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct ISM and dynamic Navigational audits to ensure compliance with our Safety Management System.
  • Implement and manage our Safety Management System on assigned vessels.
  • Promote effective communication between shore-based departments and ship crews.
  • Manage and follow up on ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO, and flag audits.
  • Handle HSEQ audits and inquiries on board vessels.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations.
  • Perform regular vessel inspections and port visits in accordance with company policies.
  • Conduct training sessions for shore staff and ship crew when required.
  • Act as a point of contact for flag administrations and support the Fleet department with classification societies.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team as needed.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of sailing experience on dry bulk vessels as a Chief Officer on the Canadian Great Lakes, with command experience as a Master being an asset.
  • Experience on Self-Unloading vessels is an advantage.
  • Experience conducting internal ISM audits and dynamic Navigational audits on ships is preferred.
  • Experience handling vetting inspections, Port State Inspections, and other 3rd Party inspections.
  • Experience in accident and incident investigation in the marine field.
  • Experience dealing with class, flag, and other regulating bodies.
  • Experience in carrying out risk assessments in the marine field.
  • Certificate of Competency as a Master or Chief Mate Near Coastal or equivalent.
  • ISM Internal Auditor Course preferred.
  • ISO Lead Auditor course - ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 18001 preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Practical knowledge of ERP software such as Oracle, Shipsure 2.0, etc.
  • Trained in accident investigation and risk assessment techniques in the marine field.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Transport Canada and IMO regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to use company software systems.
  • Ethical and accountable.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in a group setting as required.
  • Ability to perform critical thinking, sound decision-making, and problem resolution using best practices and common sense.
  • A team player with strong communication and inter-cultural skills.
