Job Title: Employment and Training Counsellor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employment and Training Counsellor to join our team at the Manitoba Metis Federation. As a key member of our employment services team, you will play a vital role in supporting clients in achieving their employment and career goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their employment needs and eligibility for our programs and services;
  • Develop and implement personalized employment and training plans with clients, matching their needs with our programs and services;
  • Provide ongoing counselling support to clients throughout their employment and training activities;
  • Research and access labour market information and job postings to support clients in their job search;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community resource programs, training institutions, and other government programs and services to support client needs;
  • Prepare and monitor financial documentation for client files;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of employment services to clients.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in the Social Sciences field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Minimum of two years of experience in employment/career counselling;
  • Experience facilitating presentations and workshops to client groups;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and computerized case/client management data systems;
  • Strong client orientation and quality assurance skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure;
  • Experience working with Indigenous non-profit organizations, volunteer boards & committees is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, with a valid Manitoba Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
