Crisis and Resource Counsellor

WoodGreen is seeking a skilled Crisis and Resource Counsellor to join our team at the Toronto Seniors Helpline. As a key member of our Community Care team, you will provide critical support and resources to seniors and their caregivers through telephone and webchat referrals.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to telephone and webchat referrals, providing supportive counselling and crisis de-escalation services as needed.
- Conduct initial screenings using standardized assessment tools to determine the most appropriate response to each call or referral.
- Assess risk and safety to determine the level of risk to self or others, and provide appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with hospitals, primary care agents, and community service providers to maintain a client-centered approach.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date statistical data for analysis and evaluation purposes, and report data as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- 2+ years of experience in telephone counselling and crisis intervention, with a focus on supporting older adults and caregivers.
- Demonstrated intake/triage experience and strong assessment skills.
- Self-directed and independent, with experience working collaboratively with others.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis response and intervention, supporting individuals with mental health and substance use issues.
- Cultural competency and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Applied computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and databases.
