Job Title: Senior Safety Expert

Motif Labs, a leading cannabis brand house in Canada, is seeking an experienced Safety Expert to join our team. This role involves spearheading the development of safety systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement robust health and safety protocols that exceed regulatory requirements.
2. Conduct comprehensive risk analysis and coach teams on hazard identification and mitigation techniques.
3. Lead Pre-Start Safety Review (PSR) processes, ensuring compliance in process design, application, and software safety standards.
4. Serve as the primary liaison with the Ministry of Labour, ensuring all safety regulations are followed.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety considerations are embedded in all process improvement efforts.
6. Conduct regular audits of health and safety management systems, driving risk mitigation plans and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
7. Mentor and support the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and all relevant regulations.
8. Develop and maintain safety programs that meet or exceed OHSA, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB), and other industry-specific safety standards.

Requirements:
1. An Occupational Health & Safety Certificate/Diploma or Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering is required. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in an engineering role with a strong focus on safety is essential.
2. In-depth knowledge of OHSA regulations, process hazards, failure mechanisms, and industrial safeguards is necessary.
3. Expertise in Classifications of Hazardous Areas / Hazloc and experience conducting safety audits is required.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with workgroups and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and contractors, are essential.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
