E-Coat Operations Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to lead our E-Coat process and drive quality improvements in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA's), control plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and support problem-solving initiatives by implementing corrective actions.
  • Coach and lead the ECoat team.
  • Develop and train team members with department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and ensure regular audits for the maintenance of such procedures.
  • Handle large-scale projects from inception to completion.
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrences of any nonconformity relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality systems and take action accordingly.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new plants/lines equipment, and other systems to ensure that the introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and with minimum disruptions.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Engineers with sample preparation and testing for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Assist, plan, and support Area leaders and Team Members with bi-yearly general maintenance, and upgrades of the e-coat line and waste water unit.
  • Liaison between Modatek Systems (purchasing) and supplier of Consigned Products such as industrial coatings products, pretreatment, and wastewater chemicals.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities for laboratory and process upgrade equipment through SAP.
  • Adhere to Modatek's Core Values: Integrity, Respect, Trust, Honesty, Fairness, and Loyalty.
  • Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001).
  • Understand, promote, and live by Magna's philosophies and the Employee's Charter.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Key Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary Chemical Engineering Degree or Diploma.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in the automotive industry.
  • Three (3) years leadership experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a flexible and creative approach while working in an environment that is dedicated to continuous improvements.
  • Experience with the use of analytical tools such as Value Stream Mapping and standardize work to identify and drive continuous improvements.
  • Experience with parts performance testing for automotive Engineering Standards (General Motors DaimlerChrysler).
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
