Job Summary

The Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest is seeking a highly skilled MEG System Manager to join our team. As a key member of our research operations team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MEG Lab, ensuring the smooth functioning of our neuroimaging equipment and providing expert support to our researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance of the MEG equipment, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Cryogenic Management: Secure permanent cooling of the MEG system, including daily recording of helium boiloff and level, planning refill cycles, and performing helium transfer from storage tanks.
  • System Performance Testing: Conduct daily system performance tests to guarantee the operation of the MEG within its specifications.
  • User Support: Train MEG users in operating the MEG and related laboratory equipment, and assist with experimental setup and configuration.
  • Data Management: Assist MEG users in managing acquired data, including data transfer, storage, and backup.
  • Lab Operations: Manage lab inventory and supplies, and maintain a web-based system for lab scheduling and billing.
  • Hardware Management: Manage the lab's hardware and modify it as necessary to accommodate experiments.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.Sc. (M.Sc. preferred) in biomedical engineering or mechanical, electrical, or physical engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience: Two to three years of relevant professional experience in engineering technology, research laboratory, or equivalent.
  • Skills: Proficiency in understanding IT management, operating systems, and network administration; programming experience in Matlab and Python; excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
